I could rattle off more than a few artists that should be household names, but aren’t. Maybe not household names, but how about every fifth house? Anyway, Cary Hudson is one of those artists. He’s been putting out fantastic music for what seems like 25 years now. I celebrate his entire catalog, but if I were to start somewhere, it would be with the 1995 classic Blue Mountain record Dog Days. It’s still one of the best things ever. Here is Cary playing on his couch in New Orleans, filmed by Elvis Leroy. He says that after the second chorus you can probably hear a gunshot. Having lived in New Orleans, it would not surprise me.
