Kathryn Legendre – Time Is A Selfish Man

Trucker, kicker and cowboy angel Kathryn Legendre makes her CXCW debut right from the heart of the chaos of that other music festival in Austin, TX. Here she debuts a brand new song she has been toying around with called Time is A Selfish Man. She tells us:

In my late 20s, my brain tends to get foggy with thoughts of time, mortality, the meaning of life, and all that fun stuff. Needless to say, it’s creating some interesting songwriting inspiration. This song is mostly about my inner-struggles with time and how little we truly have (I attached the lyrics just in case).

Time is a selfish man
Yeah, time is a selfish man
Don’t turn back, don’t give a damn

Well, I know I shouldn’t linger on all those shifting sands
But how do I forget him when I live by his two hands
You say I should know better, but I’ve got a different stand
Oh, it takes one to know one, and time is a selfish man
I said time is a selfish man

Time is a selfish man
Yeah, time is a selfish man
Don’t turn back, don’t give a damn

He’s racin’ through the sunshine then draggin’ through the rain
A relative deceiver, his pace don’t feel the same
Well I’ve tried like hell to fight it, but it’s all been in vain
Spent half my life worryin’ ’bout a thing that I can’t change
’bout a thing that I can’t change

Well he ain’t got to worry, he has everything he needs
But there’s one complication, he don’t have enough for me
A casualty of circumstance out on his endless sea
Just wait a little longer, then I’ll be a memory
Oh, then I’ll be a memory

Time is a selfish man
Yeah, time is a selfish man
don’t turn back, don’t give a damn
