Tough Old Bird – Rushford, NY 1927

Tough Old Bird sent their video to us on opening day of CXCW2015, but we effed up and mislabeled it. D’oh! Sorry, dudes. This is a fantastic song that teaches us some western New York history. I’ll let them tell it:

Tough Old Bird is a folk duo from western New York featuring brothers Matt and Nathan Corrigan. The song “Rushford, NY 1927” is based on the true story of Rushford Lake, a small reservoir near where we grew up in Allegany County. The Rochester Gas & Electric Company built a dam on Caneadea Creek in 1927, flooding the valley and leaving the towns of East Rushford and Kelloggville submerged under the lake. “Rushford, NY 1927” is on our recently-released Barn Sessions EP, which is available for free on our Bandcamp page.
