Unions – Decatur

There is a Welsh word – “hiraeth” – which translates roughly to a longing or homesickness for something you are separated from, by space or by time. The song “Decatur,” by Bloomington, Indiana’s Unions, is about the opposite of hiraeth. An invocation to be a happy partner with the part of the spatio-temporal continuum that you occupy right now. “Decatur” will appear on the band’s untitled forthcoming album, due out in 1-2 months.

Performing last year’s song, “Start Your Car,” inside, Mike and Kim took to the garage this year on a 55 degree day for “Decatur.” Carpe diem!
